Our Group Nearing the 50 mark

Look — we are now nearing the 50 mark – how amazing is that?! Actually, not so amazing when you look at the brilliant rides we’ve been having which are going from strength to strength. Had another fabulous ride today, perfect weather and there were 8 of us – which is very good for during the week. From my door and back and the ride was 20 miles – no surprise then that all of our fitness is improving. { Sorry for you poor souls who have the drag of having to work :)) }

As a result of the article about us in the Sunday Times “In Gear” section met a new guy Pat who came along last Saturday . Pat and a group of pals – Fiona & Steve, Dawn and Wendy have been riding twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays in Epping for over a year. On Monday I joined them and had an outstanding ride covering 22.5 miles. Not only was it fantastic to have someone else take the route, but what we did was so new and varied I was on a high for hours after. Their ride was longer, faster and more technical than most of ours. It was superb to meet up and find others who have a good ride standard and they’re happy to have any of us join them. In which case you now also have the option of Mondays and Fridays. However one note of caution – they meet at a different venue and their set off times tend to vary. So if you want to know more about their Monday and Friday rides email Pat McDonagh.

And of course we have extra week day rides – usually either a Weds or Thursday – which leave from Chingford Station at 11. 00am. (Next weeks will be Wednesday 19th but I’ll confirm in an email closer to the time). I would like to keep these going as long as we have such good numbers attending and to take advantage of the lovely weather and dry forest.

At Carl’s having a well earned cup of tea I made a suggestion about an away weekend to Exmoor (riding is apparently amazing all round there according to my nice journalist contact and also Glenn confirmed that). Obviously I’m way too keen as a deathly hush came over High Beech and I thought I saw a few pampas grasses rolling by …………

Ok – well maybe next Spring some of you will want to give that a go.

Meantime – CHRISTMAS. We are supposed to be Social and you know what it’s like – a week before the 25th you suddenly think it would be nice to go somewhere – and everywhere is booked. Can anyone suggest something we could do? A meal is the obvious but a bit dull perhaps – ideas please!!! If we come up with something I’ll collect monies as an initial deposit for somewhere. I can’t run off with your money – too many know where I live.
