Fast Group Ride Saturday 16th Aug
Thirteen set off from Chingford Station at 11.15. Sorry, didn’t record all names but several regulars incl Heather, Lynn, Sze and various geezers ( can only remember the girls’ names!). Trails + single tracks & steep path up to High Beech Church, met with 2 mates of Ade at Kings Oak, Dave 1 and Dave 2. Dave 1 had v exp carbon bike and Dave 2 had v exp carbon bike. In fact both bikes were the same and both Daves wore similar clothes.
Single Tracks and various wiggly bits to Baldwins Hill. 2 geezes had to leave us to rtn., then steep climbs and descents…Heather ran out of path and tumbled but was Ok …….Goldings Hill then through forest to Debden House camp site. Sort of lunch stop at Cafe. Ad Hoc make it up as we muddled along to Theydon Golf club then road to Bell Common, single track then some hairy descending adjacent Copped Hall, bridle path hitherto unknown to all of us ( I think ???) which took us on steep descent to Riding School at Woodredon Hall Lane. Lynns’ front brake shoes had problem with broken return spring but she rode mindful of possible binding on descents.
Crossed main road into Forest where we seemed to do our own thing but ended up at High Beach loos eventually. Intention was to stop at Bradleys but girls decided to ride back direct and remainder did same at around 3.00 pm. Weather was dry & sunny and consensus was it had been a good ride….around 3 hrs riding plus 30min stop.
Ian took 5 (I think…?) moderate groupies to Whipps X incl new girl Kathy plus Dave,Jayne,Jo(anna) and Craig. Sorry if I missed some out Ian, have to write names down and have proper committees / sub-committees every time we stop (bring your lights)
See you next Sat…11.00 Ching Station unless debated otherwise. I have in mind riding to Hainault Forest (we did it last Winter)….any other ideas please suggest.
